What I Do?

You ask me why I do what I do? It is simple.

I love it!

Nothing brings me alive like helping someone see what they have never seen before.

Nothing excites me more than witnessing the miracle of connection and love restored.

Nothing empowers me more than finding a way when it seems there is no way.

Nothing touches my soul as when I see in the eyes of a person that they, too, now see the wonderful person I see.

Nothing is more sacred to me than providing another person a listening and non-judgmental ear.

Nothing touches my soul as when I see in the eyes of a person, that they too now see the wonderful person I see.

Nothing brightens my day like seeing the dark clouds of depression fade away.

Nothing sends my emotions soaring as when I see someone emotionally grow in leaps and bounds.

Nothing allows me to sleep at night like knowing that I have fulfilled my calling again . . . today.

That’s why I do what I do. I may just have the greatest job in the world!

It certainly is the greatest job in my world!

My mission is to provide people just like you the safety and tools to overcome the challenges of life so that you may become more than you are and all that you can be.

Frequently Asked Questions With Kim

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

I have always been fascinated with how ordinary people overcome incredible circumstances and adversity and then use the pain of misfortune as fuel for empowerment and growth.

While there are so many reasons why I love being a therapist, a favourite thing that stands out to me is the second I notice a micro facial expression. It’s a microsecond in time when my client’s eyes suddenly widen and then slowly relax as the tension releases and they feel understood, at rest and with renewed hope.

We are all not OK a lot of the time. Therapy is nothing like your discomfort tries to sell you. It will be fine. You will be more than fine. Lean in!

Personally, my greatest accomplishment is raising four amazing children. But perhaps actually they raised me . . . to be more of a man!

Professionally, my greatest accomplishment is being blessed to be allowed to fulfill my dream of leading for over twenty years a multi-disciplined team of brilliant professionals to equip and help individuals, couples and families live intentional, free and compassionate lives.

Life, Choice, Grace, Second Chances, Love, Faith, Family, Friends and Community

Making a difference in one person’s life, one moment at a time.

There is a discipline to perfect in everything you want to master. Marriage or friendship demands commitment and discipline.

While love is huge, it is not enough! Love will fuel you to do better, but that takes courage because you must overcome defensiveness, pride, uncomfortableness and, possibly, fear. But for this, love IS more than enough!

One of the greatest misunderstandings is that trauma affects us ALL, but in different ways.

To grow up! To be fully human, fully adult, fully whole!

Confidentiality, safety (no fear in losing a relationship), truth-telling, being told the truth compassionately.

Science continually shows that talking therapeutically effectively provides what the brain needs to process issues when the brain gets stuck due to maladaptive thinking, behaviours and emotional dysregulation.

Being allowed to lead a team of very smart health professionals for over twenty years to make a difference in our community.

“I feel you get me”.
“Thank you for gently challenging my thinking.”

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Over 30 years ago my first clinical supervisor said to me. “Kim, you are so nice, but you are so stupid!” Best advice ever given to me. He cared enough about me to tell me the truth. I cannot help others if I have not done my own internal work to face the truth. My advice to clients is never go to a therapist who has not done their own internal work. Make sure your therapist is not just nice!
