What I Do?

My passion is seeing my clients regain hope and pursue their lives intentionally. All too often life’s circumstances can have you so consumed that we lose sight of the light at the end of the tunnel. I journey with clients to regain clarity and separate circumstances from identity so they can rediscover who they are.

I am a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I’m also a certified Life Coach and have over 15 years experience working with various client groups with an emphasis on women and adolescents. My areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, self esteem, anger management, life transitions, relationships and grief.

Utilizing strengths based and cognitive behavioural therapy modalities, my clients will receive an approach that is holistic, empathic, and non-judgemental. I have specialized training in trauma informed care and provide service from a culturally sensitive perspective where the client is the expert in their own life.

Due to various challenges that I experienced as a child I often felt I had the weight of the world on my shoulder. Therefore as a teenager and most of my childhood I suffered with depression. My experiences however also revealed my life’s purpose and incited the desire to support others experiencing their own challenges. It was only through the support of key people in my life and the grace of God that changed my outlook on life. Your relationship with your therapist is KEY to your success and therefore it would be my privilege to support you on your journey.

Frequently Asked Questions With Renee

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

I have always wanted to help and support others. However, I was unsure of which facet I would do so professionally. What originally got me interested in becoming a therapist was my first psychology course in college. It was so eye opening and validating to be able to make sense of how our brains process the world around us. I quickly developed a passion for all things related to psychology and how that information could be used to transform the lives of others. It’s the information that influences our perspective which allows for empathy and understanding for ourselves and those around us

My favourite thing about being a therapist is being utilized as a spark to re-ignite hope into the lives of others. Seeing their eyes go from dim to light in expectation for what they can achieve once they commit to the process. Then walking them through and watching them regain confidence in themselves to live their lives fully.

For those hesitant about going to counselling, I first ask what their understanding and expectations are of counselling. Once I know that I validate them and empathize with their perspective. Then I would go on to educate them on what some of the misconceptions are and explain how each individual’s experience is unique. I’d explain that although we can all live our lives without counselling, it’s difficult to live our lives optimally without wise counsel. We only know what we know and without being open to receive additional tools to enhance the processing of our emotions, we can become stagnant. Counselling gives everyone the opportunity to grow, develop and thrive in areas of our lives that often present the most challenges.

I am most grateful for the gift of time and grace. I believe that they provide us with an opportunity to choose intentionally to realign with our heart’s desires.

In a world overridden with negativity it is such a privilege to be used to share positivity and provide a safe space for others.

I would like every parent to know that the best gift they can give their children is “their” own healing.

One of the greatest misunderstandings about trauma is that you “get over it”.

My life goal is to pursue my life purpose by supporting as many women as possible to achieve emotional health and a fulfilled life.
