In Becky's words

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, grief, stress, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, injury, and/or post-concussion symptoms. At times, these experiences can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, withdrawn from the people and activities that matter to us, or unsure of how to move forward. Together, we can explore what is getting in the way and identify meaningful ways to reconnect with yourself and your life.

My approach is grounded in the belief that people have the capacity for change, growth, and developing new ways of coping. Therapy is a collaborative process. We may explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, self-talk, relationships, boundaries, and coping strategies to better understand what you are experiencing and what you want to change. From there, we can work toward practical, actionable steps that align with your values and goals.

I believe that everyone has the capacity in therapy for the growth and change that they are looking for. Of course, therapeutic fit matters so I encourage clients to ask themselves how comfortable they feel in the therapy space.

A few questions, answered

I had the opportunity to take a psychology class initially in high school. I instantly felt a draw to the field. I wanted to better understand myself and was interested in helping others do the same. I haven’t looked back since, and started school in the psychology field right out of high school.

When I have clients tell me they genuinely feel heard or cared about during our time together. For some they have never talked about the things they end up talking about in session. They learn, share and better understand themselves and it’s an honour that some feel comfortable enough to share that in our time together.

That is normal to feel nervous about starting therapy and you might surprise yourself about how quickly you can build a comfort with yourself and your therapist to explore what interests you. The first time I sat on the other side of the therapy room was challenging; however, I find myself going back every so often because the benefits for me outweigh the initial discomfort.

My clients. The ones that want to do the heavy work in therapy in exploring themselves and watching them work towards their goals. It’s inspiring to see someone work through the most difficult times in their lives and find meaning again.
