Keys to Staying Strong in Challenging Times

Keys to Staying Strong in Challenging Times

Published On: May 11, 2015

When we go through major life challenges and problems we can easily slide into the trap of allowing them to devalue us. During such times it can be easy to forget that our struggle is not our identity.

Staying Strong in the Midst of Challenges

  1. Accept your flaws and weaknesses. Everyone has them. You don’t need to apologize for things you are not gifted or equipped to do. There are things you do very well, so focus on doing what you can, challenge yourself to see what you are capable of but be honest with yourself about things you can’t do alone and ask for the help you need.
  2. Understand that you don’t have to prove your worth to anyone. What others think of you is directly proportional to what you think of you. The truth is, the more you see your value the more others will too.
  3. Realize that no one person can do or be everything. Beware of comparing yourself to people who act as if they can. Don’t base your worth or value on other people’s expectations. Strong people realize this, they don’t feel the need to justify their existence or measure up to anyone else’s standards. They even have fun with the things they don’t do well and can freely joke about their shortcomings.
  4. The more you know and appreciate yourself, the less you’ll let circumstances upset you. Most of the time people’s meanness and mistreatment has more to do with them than with you.You can’t control what others say but you can control what you believe and accept. Don’t let what you think others think of you imprison you.
  5. Get outside your comfort zone daily, this is a great way to build confidence because you are always proving that you can do something you maybe thought you couldn’t. Even if it is just getting up five minutes earlier, or making a call you’ve been avoiding.

Remember, God knew exactly what He was doing when He created you, His love is not conditional on what you do or don’t do.
