What I Do?

From a young age, I knew I wanted to help others, especially those that seemed to have slipped through the cracks. I started my journey as an in-home aide where I taught life skills to children with special needs and supported their families to learn strategies to make everyday life easier for the whole family. I loved this work and knew I wanted something more. I then looked for a Graduate program that would tap into the desire and propel me into a role where I could provide a higher level of support to my clients. I found this program and for the past 10 years I have had the previlige of supporting my clients of all ages in the role of Psychologist.

I understand this is an uncomfortable and awkward spot you’re in. I am here to ease your mind in this process and make you as comfortable as possible. My clients have told me I have a calm and confident presence. I have a deep passion for my work and I hope to project this when we meet.

I am a Registered Psychologist with 15 years experience in the field and have dedicated my career to working with those who have a diagnosis (and in some cases their family and caregivers) understand their diagnosis and how to navigate life with this diagnosis. I have worked in homes, at schools, and clinics. I have been paired with Psychiatrists to maximum the support of our adult patients. I have experience working a wide age range from as young as 18 months up to 73 years of age. I am trained in Trauma based therapies, play based therapy, CBT, Brief Solution Focused therapy, family centered therapy as well as ABA.

I possess empathy, compassion and an understanding that therapy is an essential part of the holistic approach. Becoming your best self is important to me! I offer a comfortable and non-judgemental environment to share their concerns and thrive to becoming their best selves. I have been told I can make the environment and situation calmer by simply being present and I aim to utilize this in every relationship I have with my clients. I ensure to use add mindfulness to each session as well as support my clients in learning tools they can use throughout their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions With Sarah

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

I had a cousin growing up that I felt was capable of so much more but did not have access to resources. I wanted to change that for future generations.

Helping people see how capable they really are and watching them become the best versions of themselves.

You will never know if it is helpful or not until you try it. If you don’t try it, then the answer is automatically no. It is a tool and resources you to try to see if it fits the job you are working on (you!). You would try every tool in your toolbox until you found the right one in real life.

My parents. My dad taught me how to surpass expectations and limitations even when others gave him permission to fail or give up. My mom taught me, and continues to teach me, how to put my best self forward, to be brave as well as speak up, even it’s scary.

That it is easy to “get over” or that you can “never get over it”.

“You are like a breath of fresh air. You helped me see things and calmed my mind. You treated me like a real person. I breathe a sigh of relief.”

“Talking things through with you makes me feel better. I know that you help me get to the solution/outcome that I need.”

“I didn’t know I was allowed to laugh in therapy!”

“You changed my mind on who psychologists are and how they can be.”
