Frequently Asked Questions With Jas

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we receive. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

I entered this career because it is important to me that I work to make a positive change in society, promote hope and I believe that begins with a person’s mindset. I think that if a person has the right mental tools, they’ll be more resilient in life. This resiliency also creates a positive ripple effect on families and communities which results in healthier communities, and people experiencing positive quality of life. My passion for helping others and my natural ability to listen while letting others feel safe are significant factors that led me to become interested in becoming a therapist.

My clients often mention that they appreciate how I am a contributing member to their progress without being overbearing. I let my clients know that it’s a privilege to be a part of their support team which is my favourite aspect about being a therapist. Many of us do not have support systems, and therapists can often provide that safe space with no judgement, empathy, and desire to see you succeed in achieving goals and managing your mental health.

I think people are typically hesitant about counselling because of stigma and lack of trust. Hence, I would ask clients what they think of therapy and provide clarification around my role. Therefore, I would explore any fears related to therapy, or experiences that make them feel hesitant, and provide a safe space.

My life goal is to create positive change in the world and become a philanthropist.

It is cathartic. Talking allows clients to vent, obtain clarity on multiple thoughts, ruminating events and organizing your mind. Talking supports people with feeling understood, saying things “out loud” so they can hear their thoughts. In that sense, the therapist can summarize, support with self-reflection and gently guide client towards change and their goals.

A family member of a client had mentioned: “The greatest human act is to inspire, Jas helped my brother reach new heights. He’s extremely grateful for her help”
